Judges’ Comment: While a higher turntable would, of course, open up the presentation still further, the delight here is how much music the AT-LP70X does insert into your system as a very easy-to-use source at just A$499.

Judges' Comment: It’s a magnificent turntable, the XA B, its clever cartridge offering a balanced output, though delivering a full and lively presentation even with its unbalanced cable option, while the acrylic provides a ‘clear’ elegance.

Judges' Comment: Exceptional value here, given a solid build, musical performance, and a host of streaming and sharing options thanks to the built-in MusicCast platform.

Ruark R410 A$2599
Judges' Comment: Those drawn to the R410’s aesthetics will only be further impressed by its functionality, three choices of radio, well-chosen physical inputs and overall immersive sound, while the display, USB-C input for CD, Rotodial and HDMI for TV playback mark out the R410 as something special.

Judges' Comment: The Horizon is a posterchild for Marantz’s “luxury” line of “beautiful objects”... those with the budget can be reassured that the Horizon also comes with a strong dose of the company’s former sonic focus.

Judges' Comment: Our hearts, minds and ears were captured utterly by these radical active speakers loaded with acoustic science and technology. You won’t believe your ears.
