Although the lustrous P2 is a touch-screen MP3 player, there is certainly nothing gimmicky about it.
Available in 2, 4 and 8GB models, the P2 is a plush multimedia player that can more than punch its own weight.
As well as supporting MP3 formats, it can also play host to WMA, WMV and MP4 files. Add to that a built in FM radio and Bluetooth capacity, and the gorgeous 3in touchscreen and you understand why we admire it.
The YP-P2 is a complex player, but easy to use
For such a complex piece of kit, the P2 is very easy to use. The touchscreen, though a little unresponsive while scrolling, is simple to use via the intuitive menu system. Even uploading content is simple thanks to the drag and drop system.
We're happy to report that Samsung hasn't sacrificed sound quality in the quest for innovation. Instead, you'll find this is a great sounding player that offers a detailed soundscape and excellent definition. Tracks like The Shins Turn On Me are crisp, clean and detailed.
Apart from the easily smudged screen, our main reservation about this player is the presence of its Apple rival.
Unfortunately for Samsung, the nano consummately pips it for price, sound quality, style and ergonomics. Look out for YP-P2 discounts, though.
