Last year was a phenomenal one for vinyl: a whopping 2.1 million LPs were sold in the UK, and 11.92 million shifted in the US.
That might not sound a lot (that 2.1 million accounts for just just under 2% of the total share of the UK albums market), but compare it with 1996’s 1,083,206 sales – and 2007’s dismal 205,292 – and it’s clear that the humble record has done a bit of a Lazarus. So much so, in fact, that the UK now has an official vinyl chart again (Adele topped ours and the one on the other side of the Atlantic with her mega-selling 25).
April 16th is annual Record Store Day – and to mark it, Sevenoaks Sound and Vision has put on a range of offers that’ll make your head (and your record collection) spin. Get up into the loft, dig out your old favourites and book a demo at your local branch.
