We are big fans of Mordaunt-Short's Aviano 1 standmount speakers, as our five-star review indicates. And that was at £250.
Thanks to 'exchange rate advantages, which Mordaunt-Short and its dealers have agreed to pass-on to customers', the Aviano 1 speakers are now £199.95.
Bucking the general trend of prices creeping upwards across the industry, Mordaunt-Short is rightly 'delighted... to pass-on such a substantial price reduction'.
You can't say fairer than that...
Aviano is the latest affordable speaker series from Mordaunt-Short. Comprising a seven-strong hi-fi and home cinema range, there are bookshelf, standmount and floorstanding speakers, a centre channel and two subwoofers.
Joining the Aviano range (pictured) are the Performance 2 standmount stereo speakers. Another addition to the Performance range, the new speakers will look to match the quality of the rest of the range but on a smaller scale.
The Aviano range sits between the company's Avant and Mezzo series and is yours in a choice of 'three carefully chosen hues – black, dark walnut and rosewood'.
The new speakers feature a computer-modelled housing for the aluminium tweeters, an updated mid/bass drivers and a fresh crossover design and a completely new cabinet and cosmetic design.
Available from August, prices on the individual models in the range will follow.
Mordaunt-Short's Performance series is in its fifth year and the compact Performance 2 will be looking to continue the good work.
A standmount speaker, the Performance 2 uses the company's aspirated tweeter technology, the CPC mid/bass driver, improved crossover and capacitors, and an injection moulded polymer resin monocoque construction. Say that after a few shandies.
Available in midnight black, granite grey or brilliant silver, the Performance 2 speakers are due out in September. Again, we'll let you know a price just as soon as we get one.
