High-end hi-fi fans should check out this innovative new DAC (Digital-to-Analogue-Converter) from Accustic Arts.
The TUBE-DAC II combines solid-state technology with traditional valve technology in order to blend the precision and robustness of digital processing with the sonic qualities long associated with analogue sound.
The TUBE-DAC II is the first component to come from Accustic Arts' new reference Series, and uses an elaborate 32-bit microcomputer in its digital section, converting the signal using two entirely separate D/A conversion chips. Finally, it processes the newly-analogue signal in a tube-hybrid circuit using old-fashioned vacuum tubes.
This kind of hybrid technology doesn't come cheap - the TUBE-DAC II costs £4,995.
