Mordaunt-Short's Alumni home cinema sub/sat speaker package will be available from next month, either as a 2.1 or full 5.1 package.
Designed at the company's UK R&D centre, the speakers use a curved cabinet design intended to reduce standing waves and so improve sound quality, and are available in black and white gloss finishes.
Each satellite speaker has a 3.5in Continuous Profile Cone (CPC) mid/bass driver, 25mm aluminium-dome tweeter and audiophile components throughout.
The 120W subwoofer has a brand-new 8in long-throw woofer and the cabinet's vent is carefully terminated for low mechanical noise and distortion. It's fitted with low level and high level inputs, phase control and a volume-frequency filter.
Buyer's can buy the full 5.1 package for £600, or a 2.1 system with two Alumni 2 satellites, the 5 centre speaker and 9 subwoofer for £460.
A single LCR (left, centre, right) front speaker, the Alumni 3, will join the range later this year for £260.
