American firm Amimon has made a breakthrough in the drive towards wireless HDMI connectivity, with the announcement yesterday that its Wireless High-Definition Interface (WHDI) technology has been approved for use with the HDCP specification.
The HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) specification was necessary for wider take-up of the wireless solution, due to the security needs of the content industry.
The WHDI chipset has been available for several months and has shown impressive performance results, and this announcement will pave the way for hardware manufacturers to include the chipset in their products.
