New Philips OLED TVs push the envelope with P5 AI processing, next gen Ambilight and Bowers & Wilkins sound

Picking out a new OLED TV can be a tricky business. You’ll quickly find that the vast majority of modern panels offer a similar set of features: ultra-thin design, crisp 4K HDR picture, nifty voice remote, etc. Philips’s OLED TVs are different…

The company’s latest 2022 OLED+ models – the OLED+907 and flagship OLED+937 – take viewing to the next level with their unique next generation Ambilight technology giving the impression of the picture extending beyond the boundaries of the screen, as well as exceptional sound by Bowers & Wilkins to complete the immersive experience.

The OLED+907 and OLED+937 are both high-end models – and both have won prestigious Red Dot Product Design Awards – but offer differing specs. Let’s take a closer look at these two legends in the making…

Philips OLED+937 (65-inch, 77-inch)

The  OLED+937 is said to be the perfect all-in-one TV for those who want exceptional picture and sound for movies, sports and gaming. It boasts a state-of-the-art OLED_EX panel with an impressive peak brightness of 1300 nits, plus the next generation four-sided Ambilight system.

We’re big fans of Philips’ clever Ambilight tech, but this latest version adds individually controlled rear LEDS. That should make for a more intense and accurate connection between Ambilight and the on-screen action, and thus create an even more cinematic effect. Nice.

The OLED+937 boasts a Bowers & Wilkins-supplied, 5.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos sound system now with more expansive side firing left and right drivers. It looks a bit like a separate soundbar, but as it’s an integral part of the TV, the space that might have been used for the power pack now gives more space for the drivers. The system is also precisely tuned to the size of the set to lock dialogue to the centre of the screen.

The result? Truly epic audio performance that pushes the envelope – plus one remote and no messy cables!

Elsewhere, the OLED+937 benefits from an Android 11-based TV OS and Philips’ ultra-powerful Dual chip 6th Generation P5 processor with new Ambient intelligence picture processing and AI Content. There’s also support for all the major HDR formats including Dolby Vision and HDR10+ (few sets are compatible with both so this is a big plus) and IMAX Enhanced certification.

Philips OLED+907 (48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch)

The OLED+907 is a touch more understated. It has its B&W sound system fully integrated into the base of the TV, with the embedded subwoofer at the rear and hidden neatly out of sight. The space-saving 3.1 (LCR) channel sound system is a great solution for those who want a high-quality TV without the hassle of having to buy and install an external soundbar.

When it comes to picture quality, you can expect plenty of wow factor. The 907 has the same next-generation Ambilight system and high-end OLED_EX panel (55” and 65” versions) as its pricier sibling. You also get Philips’s 6th Gen P5 AI Perfect Picture Engine plus support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, not to mention IMAX Enhanced certification.

Like all of Philip’s top-drawer OLED TVs, the OLED+907 is a fantastic choice for gamers thanks to support for 4K@120Hz – high-resolution, high-frame-rate gaming – and VRR. The latter stands for variable refresh rate, and it wrings the absolute best visual performance out of next-gen consoles.

Bottom line? There might be a lot of samey TVs out there, but there’s nothing quite like the Philips OLED+907 and OLED+937.

Both models are available now from Richer Sounds. The OLED+937 is priced at £2899 (65in) and £3999 (77in). The OLED+907 costs £1699 (48in), £1999 (55in) and £2699 (65in). Discover more at Philips.co.uk
