The Naim Uniti Atom is the perfect crossover between lifestyle product and premium hi-fi system. Winning a What Hi-Fi? Award for a remarkable third successive year, it’s our 2019 pick as the best hi-fi system over £1000.
You may see the Uniti Atom being described as a streamer, but it’s really much more than that. In reality it’s almost a complete system, you simply need to attach a suitably talented pair of speakers to do this machine justice.
The Atom uses a streaming platform developed in-house at Naim’s UK headquarters – the same platform seen across the Naim range, right up to the flagship ND555.
Inside you’ll find 40 watts of Class A/B amplification, this time derived from Naim’s Award-winning Nait integrated amplifiers.
Around the back are speaker terminals, ethernet and USB inputs, plus analogue and digital connections. What’s more, the Uniti Atom now comes with an HDMI input as standard, allowing you to easily integrate sound from your TV.
AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal, internet radio and aptX HD Bluetooth are all on board, with the upgradeable platform set to integrate even more services in the near future. The Uniti Atom also supports UPnP streaming of hi-res files in up to 32bit/384Khz resolution.
This wealth of music is controlled via the sensibly laid-out remote control or the equally logical Naim control app.
The Atom is an absolute treat to listen to, no matter what the source or material. Balanced, dynamic and expressively detailed, it combines just the right level of attack with an open and even-handed delivery. Timing is excellent and the Atom always remains organised and musical.
The Naim Uniti Atom is a worthy winner once again, and our choice as the best hi-fi system over £1000 in the 2019 What Hi-Fi? Awards.
