Meet the newest additions to Sennheiser's soundbar family

Want a thrilling home cinema experience without the fuss of rear speakers and extra cables? The brand new Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus could be just the ticket.

The world's first 7.1.4 standalone soundbar promises to be a smaller, more affordable version of the What Hi-Fi Award-winning Ambeo soundbar (now renamed the Ambeo Soundbar Max).

With three forward-facing drivers, a side-firing driver at each of its ends, two up-firing drivers and two up-firing woofers, the new Ambeo Soundbar Plus is more than capable of delivering the spaciousness of a movie theatre at home.

Despite its compact size, the new model uses the same 3D sound processing as the original Ambeo. It also boasts powerful Self-Calibration tech that reads a room’s acoustic properties and positions seven virtual speakers around the listener, plus four more overhead.

The Soundbar Plus’ impressive spec sheet includes support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Sony 360 Reality Audio and MPEG-H Audio. Users can even upmix stereo content to virtual surround (there are three presets for this: Light, Standard, and Boost).

Hands full with drinks and popcorn? The Ambeo Soundbar Plus offers "seamless" integration with Alexa Built-in and Apple Siri voice controls. Love music as much as movies? The Soundbar Plus uses the same (excellent) Ambeo OS platform and smart app as the Soundbar Max, so you're guaranteed AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect.

There’s no question that the Ambeo Soundbar Plus is an all-in-one solution, but if you want even more epic bass you can add up to four Ambeo Subs (one would likely be more than enough, but it’s nice to have the option to put one Sub in each corner of the room for perfectly-even bass).

Sennheiser’s brand new 8-inch wireless subwoofer is powered by a 350W Class-D amplifier and promises “thundering” bass down to 27Hz. Features include advanced self-calibration and a silky-smooth user experience courtesy of the Sennheiser Smart Control App.

Ready for a state-of-the-art, spine-tingling home cinema experience?

The Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus and Ambeo Sub are available from Richer Sounds, priced at £1299 and £599 respectively.
