In this day and age, it’s not enough for a device to look or sound good – it has to be connected, too. By providing a best-in-class audio-visual experience and seamlessly connecting to other devices around the home, an AV product can look better, sound better, be easier to control and even control other products.

That is the aim of DTS and Philips TV and Sound working together in creating new innovative solutions. The new 2022/2023 home sound products of the Philips Fidelio range and Philips Ambilight televisions harness the power of DTS Play-Fi and IMAX Enhanced to deliver an unforgettable watching and listening experience.

Ready to be thrilled? Let’s see how they do it.

Get yourself connected

DTS Play-Fi is a whole-home audio platform that lets you stream music, podcasts, radio and more from every connected device in the home. Whether you’re using a popular music service, your TV, or even your turntable, you can quickly and simply stream the audio to every room in your home without the need for cable spaghetti. Or you can create a wireless home cinema system using your Play-Fi-enabled soundbar or TV – the choice is yours.

Play-Fi can work as part of your surround sound system thanks to DTS Play-Fi Home Theatre – the technology that recently was announced as a CES 2023 Innovation Awards Honoree. Not only does this let you connect your TV and speakers wirelessly, it also lets you mix and match multiple brands, as long as they’re compatible – DTS Play-Fi is currently available on over 400 different products from over 30 different brands, with more being added all the time. So no need to stay locked in to one brand’s ecosystem.

DTS Play-Fi Home Theatre lets you use the TV’s built-in speakers as part of the surround sound system, or upgrade them by adding a Play-Fi-enabled soundbar or wireless speakers. It works over wi-fi, so you don’t need to physically connect each speaker to the others, unlike with traditional surround sound systems. And no cables means no trip hazards.

Home sound made easy

You’ll see this on the Philips TV and Sound wireless home system, a range of DTS Play-Fi enabled home entertainment products of Philips TV and Sound ranging from Ambilight TVs and soundbars, to additional speakers, subwoofers and full home cinema setups. Products that use the Philips ‘home sound made easy’ tagline seamlessly bring you immersive sound, throughout the home. Stream any content from any device to your TV, or to any other room in the home, simply and effortlessly powered by DTS Play-Fi.

Build your cinema

Build a wireless home theatre set up that fits your living room and preferences. Start your set up with a perfectly matching soundbar or choose to start with two wireless speakers. Pairing your Philips Ambilight TV with two speakers results in a three-channel set up with your TV speaker acting as the centre speaker for better separated soundstage and crystal-clear dialogue. From there you can further build out your home sound set-up. And with the option of adding two subwoofers to the set-up, you’re guaranteed plenty of room-shaking bass.

Advanced audio

What else does it offer? Precise Audio Synchronisation means audio and video are perfectly in sync, with no echo between speakers and no lip-sync problems with TVs or monitors. Sound quality is second to none, thanks to high-resolution 24-bit/192kHz lossless audio streaming directly from music services and devices, while Hi-Res Gapless Playback allows for uninterrupted listening to your favourite albums and performances with no gaps between tracks.

Streaming music? DTS Play-Fi enabled TV and Sound products have you covered, with support for all major music services, including Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, Qobuz, Tidal, iHeartRadio and Sirius XM. Radio and podcasts are equally well covered, with the ability to stream from a home media server or straight from your phone. You’ll never be short of something to listen to.

It’s not just streaming services that DTS Play-Fi enabled products are compatible with, but other wireless technologies, too. They work with practically every wireless protocol going, including Apple’s AirPlay 2, Google’s Chromecast Built-In, Spotify Connect and Amazon’s Works with Alexa. If it works wirelessly, chances are it’s compatible with DTS Play-Fi.

Not only do DTS Play-Fi enabled products work with all of these technologies, they complement them too, improving the user experience. By adding features like surround sound, multi-room capabilities, TV audio, support for wireless headphones and high-resolution streaming, you’ll enhance your listening experience no end.

Picture perfect

That’s the audio connectivity taken care of. But what about picture and sound quality? The latest and best home cinema devices feature IMAX Enhanced, which combines digitally remastered 4K HDR content together with an extensive device certification for a best-in-class home cinema experience.

IMAX Enhanced content features IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering technology (DMR), for an ultra-vivid, high-fidelity picture that’s specifically mastered for today’s high-performing 4K HDR Televisions. And together with IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio that provides up to 26 per cent more image on select films and sequences, home audiences are for the first time able to see the full scope and scale, exactly as the filmmaker intended.

Add Philips’ 6th Generation P5 AI (Picture Processing Suite), the dedicated IMAX picture mode with calibrated settings that deliver higher brightness on an IMAX Enhanced-certified display, and you’ve got an unparalleled premium home theatre experience.

Together with IMAX’s signature sound – with cavernous bass and dynamic range delivered exclusively by DTS – it all adds up to the best entertainment experience found outside of a movie theatre.

You won’t get these technologies anywhere else – IMAX Enhanced is the only way to experience IMAX’s signature picture, sound and scale in the home. With certified devices like Philips’ signature OLED displays, IMAX Enhanced is elevating the at-home experience to new heights.

IMAX Enhanced compatible devices include models from Philips 2022 TV line-up, like the Philips MiniLED PML9507, Philips OLED807 series (and derivatives), the flagship models Philips OLED+907 and EISA award winning Philips OLED+937. Choose one and you won’t be disappointed…

DTS Play-Fi enabled Ambilight TVs were introduced by Philips TV and Sound in 2020.

2020, 2021, 2022 models of Philips Smart TVs with Android TV operating system (8500 series and up) are DTS Play-Fi enabled. The full 2022/2023 range of Philips Android TVs have a unique centre channel that enables the three-channel setup for wireless surround sound via TV in combination with two WiFi speakers.
