Battlefield: Bad Company is a first person shooter tipped by many to become the game of the year. More cynical voices have suggested that it merely makes a good substitute for last year's best FPS, Call of Duty 4.
To give credit where credit's due, Battlefield: Bad Company deserves to be considered on its own merits, as it has plenty. It looks good, it sounds amazing and both the single and multiplayer options are absorbing and enjoyable. At times it even manages that rare trick of being laugh-out-loud funny.
