There are two floorstanding speakers in the Altura line-up, the Egea 3 and Iroise 3 (pictured), both of which feature SCS (Spacially Coherent System) technology originally developed for the firm's flagship models.
SCS is a Cabasse innovation, designed to provide a solution to the problem of obtaining point source reproduction from speaker drive units.
The BC-13, two-way coaxial drive unit used in the Altura line-up, which covers a frequency range of 900Hz to 23kHz, is said to eliminate the inherent problems associated with separate midrange and high frequency drivers.
Duocell woofers are fitted to both models, with two 17cm ones in the Egea 3 and two 21cm versions in the Iroise 3, giving a low frequency response of 50Hz.
All models are available in santos, golden cherry or high gloss black finishes and cost £2700/pair for the Egea 3 and £3400/pair for the Iroise 3.
