The ear-cups have been redesigned for greater comfort, with more generously cushioned padding. And the headphones now come supplied with 1.6m and 1.0m detachable cables, and easier battery access.
Performance has been enhanced, claims Audio-Technica, to offer a "smoother, richer, more even tonal balance".
And, as before, they incorporate QuietPoint active noise-cancellation technology to eliminate up to 85 per cent of outside noise. A miniature microphone in each ear-cup detects external noise and a corresponding sound-cancelling signal is applied.
If you don't need the noise-cancelling function, you can switch it off and use the headphones in passive mode.
Accessories included as part of the package include the aforementioned cables, a carry case, an airline adapter for connection to in-flight entertainment systems and a quarter inch headphone jack adapter.
You can buy the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b headphones from the company's e-retail site and selected retailers from the middle of August for £184.
