We're not sure quite how many people would value twin docks, but if you've got an iPhone (it's 3G compatible) and an iPod, or you want to switch between your tunes and a mate's, now you can. The JVC NX-PN7 also allows you to charge both.
We can see the appeal of the flashing, multicolour lights for younger kids, but it's all a bit shouty for our taste.
You switch between the docks at the touch of a button on the unit or the remote. There's also an FM/AM tuner on board, a composite video output, 3.5mm auxiliary input and a headphone out.
Stereo speakers lack weight
But we wish it sounded a little better. The 15W power output and stereo speakers lack weight – and turning on the ‘sound turbo' mode only adds a floppy, if louder, bottom end.
The treble is hard and vague, and a lack of cohesion means it isn't a patch on a similarly priced iPod dock – we'd rather listen to the easier-on-the-ear FM tuner.
Still, the NX-PN7 has its ‘USP', and if this and the bells and whistles appeals, then by all means get one for the kids' room. We'd prefer something a little more understated…
