If you got a small analogue TV in the bedroom or kitchen and want to add Freeview, this is a nifty solution. The iDaptor crams a full Freeview set-top box in to what is essentially a Scart plug, not much bigger than a pack of cards. You might think there'd be a compromise in performance to achieve such diminutive dimensions, but you'd be very wrong.

In fact, all you have to do is plug it into a decent screen, move the cabled IR receiver to a convenient place so it can pick up the signal from the remote control handset, and you're good to go.

Not tricked by the ticker
The iDaptor will fill just about any moderately-sized screen (well, up to around 26in at least) with a good quality image, if not the most sophisticated ever. The Sky Sports News ticker, always a tricky tester, is dealt with in an unfussy manner: the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen is displayed with little evidence of digital noise, although the colours can be a little washed out.

We wouldn't recommend the iDaptor for use on screen sizes of 32in or above, but as a simple way of receiving Freeview on smaller TVs, it's a convenient, compact device that delivers reasonable picture performance.
