Looking for a big-screen TV that doesn't cost the earth? Amazon's homegrown QLED TV could be just the ticket – especially as it is being treated to a generous Black Friday TV deal.

Right now, the Amazon Fire 65-inch Omni QLED TV is just $599 for Black Friday courtesy of a 25 per cent discount.

So it's cheap, but is it any good? In a word, yes. As we said in our four-star Omni QLED review, "It’s telling that members of our test team, who are spoiled on a daily basis by the latest OLED TVs, agreed that they would be happy to have the Omni QLED at home. There aren’t many TVs at this price that they would say that about." In fact, it's currently our 'Best Cheap' pick in our best TV buying guide.

For its combination of picture and sound quality and features, it's recommendable at its $799 RRP, let alone this discounted one. If you're looking for a big screen that has a premium screen display without a premium price, this is certainly one of the better options out there.

Amazon Fire TV 65-inch Omni was $799 now $599 (save $200)
We've reviewed the 65-inch Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED and can heartily recommend it at this knockdown price. This model received a solid four-star rating, in part due to its consistent picture and strong features for the money. We've seen this TV drop to as low as $549 before (March 2024), but this is still a great price.

First and foremost, you get more for your money than the price suggests. Nowhere is that more apparent than with its picture quality. As our expert reviewers noted in our 65-inch Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED, "colours are vibrant and punchy when they need to be... but subtle and pale when that is what’s called for."

"The Omni QLED takes a much more consistent and considered approach to contrast that is less striking but significantly more watchable," we continued. And we also praised its reasonably insightful and solid detail and sharpness, as well as its off-axis viewing and smooth motion handling. Just don't expect its pure peak brightness to provide a dazzling rendition of the latest and greatest HDR movies, as much higher-priced TVs are capable of doing.

The world of budget TVs is very competitive, from Roku to Amazon and everyone in between, so user experience and feature set are important – and Amazon clearly knows that. Its Fire TVs offer convenience and usability alongside competitive features, prices and specs. The Omni QLED series of Fire TVs is no different in these respects.

With this 65-inch Omni QLED, you're getting a 4K/60Hz QLED panel and a robust suite of HDR support that includes HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ, alongside full-array local dimming with 80 discrete zones. Of course, you'll also get to enjoy Amazon's own Fire TV operating system, too – ideal if you're an Amazon Prime or Amazon device user.

When it comes to gaming, the Omni QLED does manage to offer up VRR, ALLM, and HDR10+, so even if it isn't a top-of-the-line 4K/120Hz set with the very best response times, this TV can definitely handle some casual next-gen gaming courtesy of a PS5 or a Series X without any trouble at all.

If you're looking for a budget TV that doesn't sacrifice too much in the way of picture quality or features, this Omni QLED TV is worth paying close attention to thanks to this $200 discount at Amazon.

Other recommendable sizes are also discounted...

The 65-inch model isn't the size in Amazon's Omni QLED range to get a decent discount. In fact, all five sizes between 43 inches and 75 inches are on the end of an early Black Friday deal. That's not surprising at this time of year, when Amazon begins heavily discounting many of its own products, especially as the second generation of the flagship QLED TV series has just been announced.

You can see all the Amazon Omni QLED TV Black Friday deals here.

We have reviewed three of them, and in addition to the 65-inch model can also highly recommend the 50-inch QLED, which is now $390 for Black Friday thanks to a 26 per cent discount. We awarded it the full five-star set for its balanced, consistent picture quality, app-packed, user-friendly OS and surprisingly decent gaming specs.

Despite its 18 per cent discount, we would, however, avoid the 43-inch model, which we awarded three stars to, finding fault with its black depth, smeary motion and pale colours.

We haven't reviewed the 55-inch and 75-inch sizes. Hopefully they are closer to the 65-inch and 50-inch models' performances than the 43-inch's, but considering the inconsistency between the models we have reviewed we aren't in a position to recommend them.
