Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: preview
The Jeddah Corniche Circuit hasn’t always been the happiest of hunting grounds for Max Verstappen, but he’s on pole for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, joined on the front row – for the fifth consecutive race – by Charles Leclerc.
The man of the moment, however, is young Oliver Bearman. The 18-year-old Ferrari reserve took pole position for the F2 race on Thursday, before being called-up at the 11th hour as a stand-in for poor Carlos Sainz, who’s had to undergo appendix surgery. Bearman did himself proud too, securing the 11th slot on the grid.
Up ahead, Sergio Perez will start from 3rd, Fernando Alonso from 4th, Oscar Piastri from 5th and Lando Norris from 6th. George Russell again was the faster of the Mercedes drivers, and starts from 7th, a nose in front of Lewis Hamilton.
The Saudi Arabian GP was one of only three races that Verstappen failed to win last year, though that was largely because his qualifying session was derailed by technical issues. Even if Leclerc pulls off a flawless drive, it’s the Red Bull man’s race to lose.
It's lights out at 5pm GMT / 12pm ET. Keep scrolling to find out where to watch free F1 live streams anywhere in the world, as well as free highlights of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
