It's a classic Copa del Rey final of David and Goliath. On the one hand is Osasuna – a club that was on the brink of relegation to the Spanish third division a few years ago – with no major honours to its name. On the other is Real Madrid.

These two teams last met back in the league in February and, predictably, it was Real Madrid that came away with the points. Fede Valverde slotted the ball into the bottom corner in the 78th minute and Marco Asensio finished off the job by sliding in a second under keeper Sergio Herrera in added time. The best Osasuna could manage in the encounter was a low long range effort that hit the post.

Things aren't as desperate as they sound for the Pamplona club, though. They sit a comfortable 10th in La Liga and nearing the end of what they will feel has been a good season. They walk into Saturday's final with their heads held high and proud scalps including Bilbao and Betis to get this far. What's more, they managed a respectable 47 percent possession in that loss against Madrid. Take a few more risks in this winner-takes-all encounter and you never know.

Besides, Real Madrid have looked beatable of late. Real Sociedad and Girona have both got the better of Los Merengues recently with Carlo Ancelotti's defence shipping six goals in the process. The Italian boss has warned his backs to sharpen up with both this cup final and the Champions League semis waiting just after. It's been all too easy for this squad to slip domestically what with Real's top four finish all but assured and Barcelona just days away from finishing first.

David Alaba and Luka Modric should return to start on Saturday for the team from the capital, as will Karim Benzema who was rested ahead of this crucial run. Will they be all the difference that Real Madrid need to comfortably wrap this one up Osasuna's Barcelona loanee attacker Ez Abde may have something to say about that.
