New from Logitech is a pair of new iPod speaker systems designed for use at home and on the move. The £170 Pure-Fi Dream (above) is designed as a bedside dock for your pocket player, recharging it overnight while also allowing a range of clock-radio-type functions, while the £100 Pure-Fi Anywhere builds on the success of the popular mm50 to offer battery powered music on the beach or on the road.
The Dream offers 'Premium Sound' via two-way speakers combining a 19mm tweeter and 7.5cm long-throw woofers, and also has the company's StereoXL technology to deliver a wider soundfield.
It also has an FM/AM tuner, dual alarms with battery back-up and motion-sensitive controls: these light up when a hand is waved over them, making the system simple to use in the dark, and then dim back down to let you sleep.
You can even wave your hand at the unit when its alarm is sounding, thus setting the snooze function, and even the remote control has backlit buttons.
The Anywhere model (above) is based on the mm50, but with a number of significant improvements. There's a battery life indicator for the 10-hour rechargeable power source, an improved remote control and a better carrying case.
The mains power supply is also rubberised to avoid scratching the system, and fits into the iPod dock for transportation.
The Pure-Fi Anywhere goes on sale in September, with the Dream following in October.
