M&K1

Miller & Kreisel is making its M series 5.1 speaker systems, originally developed for the professional market, available for home use.

The range includes a choice of two LCR (left, centre, right) speakers, two active subwoofers and a dedicated surround speaker.

All M series speakers use 2.5cm silk-dome, Ferro fluid cooled neodymium tweeters and M&K's phase focused crossovers.

The surround speakers are a patented tripolar design said to provide a far more enveloping surround soundstage than speakers with conventional dispersion patterns.

To add extra bass, M&K offers two active subwoofers, with either 20cm or 30cm drivers.

Complete M series 5.1 systems are available in a black or satin white finish with piano gloss subwoofers from £1495-1750. They're distributed in the UK by Gecko (0845 262 2882).

I have bought a set of M&K speakers in December 2003 and since then i am sending them to and from the supplier. They are the worst speakers i ever had also they do not honor the warranty. Rather buy cheap speakers bur M&K is rubbish

They went bust in the US but their consumer business is still going strong in Europe. These are great little speakers but they're hardly new. Still it's great to see What Hi-Fi catching up eventually! So, how many stars guys?

I bought a set of these in November (ex demo) - but with the matt black KX12 (30cm sub) - but for 60% of the price they quote above (which itself is half of the original price quoted in 2006).

Not bad with music - if "forward" and relatively bass heavy without some tweaking - but with movies it's amazing. They produce brilliant effects steering (the tripole rears help here) and will take all the power my Denon 2807 can throw at them. The sub never feels like it's trying - but the sound is certainly never boring or lacking in drive / excitement!!
