Sony has reported healthy profits for the first half of 2007, despite its much-reported problems with the Playstation3. Healthy sales of LCD televisions and camcorders have delivered the electronics giant first-quarter profits of $552 million (£269 million), despite losses in the company's gaming division.
The corporation has struggled with perceptions of its flagship gaming product, after the launch of the PS3 had to be delayed. Despite Sony recently announcing a PS3 price cut in the U.S. – though not in Europe – sales are still trailing in the wake of the enormous success of the Nintendo Wii console.
