speaker stands

this did not load first time, i think!? - listening to budget and mid range systems but not sure which stands to go for depending on what i end up buying. mid range is the roksan combi and the cyrus6 combi with b&w 685 or dali ikon2. budget is the marantz or nad or rotel with above speakers or monitor audio br2's. stands are either super dreadnoughts or Z2's - which stand for which speaker?

Re: speaker stands

Super dreadnoughts for the B&Ws. Z2s are easily sufficient for the BR2s, but you might want to consider the super dreadnoughts anyway, as that way you won't be feeling the need to upgrade your stands if you get heftier speakers somewhere down the line.

Re: speaker stands

PS I notice that there's a new model of the super dreadnoughts out, so there may be some end of line bargains to be had.

Re: speaker stands

my apologies tractorboy for not responding before, got sent on a job away so just looked now  to see what was what.

i ended up getting Mezzo 2's so i think i might just go for those trophys you suggested as it would be a good compromise between what i suggested.

thanks for the advice

B&W - Super Dreadnoughts, MA BR2's - Soundstyle Z2. The new ones are Broadside Dreadnoughts - £300.00 a pair.

Re: speaker stands

I use Atacama Nexus 6 stands with my B&W 685s - since I 3/4 filled them with atabites, they now sound excellent.

Re: speaker stands

Prof Hat - I'm thinking of these stands for my newly aquired RS1 rears; any reason why you only 3/4 filled them?

Re: speaker stands

Well, I kept filling them gradually and listening as I went. I stopped at the point where filling them was having a detrimental rather than positive effect (which involved taking some out again which isn't a lot of fun I can tell you!). It may well be different in your setup e.g. I have wooden floors.
