Mag illustrations ?

Hi

love the mag and all the info i get from it.

I notice that when you show new tv's and do reviews that the screen always shows a movie in mid play,

how come there are never any black bars top and bottom?? I have a Toshiba HD E1 for HD and a pc for Blu-ray and always get the bars unless the movie is filmed in other than 2.35 which seems the norm these days.

I find loosing 2" top and bottom a waste of a screen although i am now used to seeing the movies I have "as the director intended " !

Camera trickery ? or a secret way of viewing ?

Bc.

Re: Mag illustrations ?

Because it's all but impossible to photograph a TV well with a real image on the screen, the pictures from movies or TV shows are 'stripped in' onto the screen at the page design stage. I think just about every picture you'll ever see of a TV set is done this way.

Only when they start making movies in the same format as the screens, not the more usual 1.85:1 or 2.35:1

Re: Mag illustrations ?

this also explains why they're always of the newest films, i had started wondering if you somehow managed to get stuff in the cinema to use as test material!

Re: Mag illustrations ?

Indeed. You'll find we usually say in the reviews what movies we used as test material.

Any excuse for Daniel Craig to feature Big Smile

Possitively optimistic compared to me. I keep wondering who stole my damn glass!
