Hello just read the review of the Panasonic DMP-BD35 and i am now really tempted to buy one but!!! What i would like to know is I have an Onkyo 875 and wondered if it would be better to have the Tru HD audio etc decoding done by the player or by the Onkyo? I Presume the Onkyo but if this is the case does anyone know how to turn off the onboard decoding on the Panasonic DMP-BD35???

Please any help would be great otherwise it might be better for me to buy the Panasonic DMP-BD30

all you need to do is go into the BD35's menus and make sure that the HDMI audio output is set to Bitstream. Job done! 

If you have an 875 like me, then the panasonic might be overkill.

 The audio capabilities are essentially redundant. I'm going for the Sony s350 as that's all i need, and it's cheaper than the pana.

Also, the 875 will (probably) upscale dvd better thn both, so not needed either.

Obviously, until the sony is actually tested, I don't know, but why not use the 875's strengths - no need to pay extra for features you don't need is there?

Talking of the 875's video upscaling, I find that if I let it upscale DVD's from my budget Pioneer DVD player, the picture contains more artefacts and motion blur than if I output a 1080p picture from the player...

In relation to the BD35, I'd like to know how it compares to the BD50 rather than the BD30, as it's spec seems much closer to the 50 than the 30.... 

Leaving aside for one moment the fact that the BD35 decodes HD audio, what are the differences in PQ in comparison to the BD30 and BD50.

It would be very helpful in a review if the picture was compared to the BD30 to quantify any differences in a number of areas including, clarity, colour, contrast, artefact suppression, and most importantly of all IMO, motion handling and in particular, during vertical and horizontal scans at various speeds.

 I find the major problem with digital reproduction to be motion handling - nothing detracts from the enjoyment more than 'break up' and phosphor trails during movement.

I do not believe that any system is free from this, DVD or Blu ray, plasma or LCD. I have a BD30 and pana 42PZ85 but have also spent a lot of time (in dealers) assessing the Pioneer 5090. Movement presents problems to some degree in every system I have seen.

The screens play their part in the movement problems but I do think it would be beneficial to indicate player performance with reference to the BD30. I hope I am not on my own in this.
