M5i's - So Far So Good.

Well I've had these now for about 3 weeks or so & thought anyone who was thinking about these as a possibility would be interested.

l had heard that they were a detailed, crisp, well timed 'speaker, with a taught & for some a lean bass.

Being a 4 ohm design some feel they are hard to drive, though as I'm using them with a biamped Arcam Alpha 8 integrated & 9 power, l was sure this wouldn't be a problem.

Sure enough there has been no problem driving them, the power takes the bottom end, with the 8 the top. l found that far from being lean, comparatively for a stand mounter, they are not lacking in the bass line.

On Sunday night however, l did play around with swapping the amps, 8 bass/midrange & 9 top, with a clear difference.

Here the bass was dramatically reduced, that could be described as lean.

Now whether this is to do purely with power, 50w integrated as opposed to 70w per channel power, I'm not too sure.

Nice speakers - enjoy them, and enjoy experimenting. That's where all the fun is!
