Hi there guys, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on buy the best 40 " LCD. I am big into gaming on the XBOX360 and my wife and I love to watch DVDs and sky (not HD SKY) I have searched the internet throughout and get differant opions everywhere. WHICH web site say that the  Toshiba 40XF355D is a rubbish set and not to buy it at any price where as WHAT HI FI web site gives it a full 5 stars and thumbs up. As im sure all you guys know, its a big purchase and I want the best for my budget which is anything up to £1000. Any help or advice would be great.

I would go for the Sony40W4000 currently on sale for £799 at Teleworld the best looking lcd ive seen for under a grand.Also consider a plasma like the Panasonic 42pz85 for around £900. If you go for the Sony you can afford a decent bluray player like the Sony BDP-350 for around £200.That would be a great combination with the thought of may be gettting surround sound for the future. I cant find the one you said, is it the KDL-40V4000 ?

I was in CURRYS and they said the 40" 5 Series Samsung 1080p Full HD is another great one ? Is that true or is this one you said the best option ? I looked for teleworld but they dont seem to advertise the one you said

The exact model is Sony KDL- 40W4000 just looked on Teleworld and on the first page on the righthand side in orange boxes about fourth one down its there for £799 or GOOGLE it cracking tv for the money. Also i have a samsung and yes there good but Sony takes it a step further especially when veiwing hd material like sky and bluray. Currys might have it but probably over a grand whf gave a five star rating. And said "One of the sharpess,punchiest most detailed HD performance yet; balanced and clean SD playback" A giant leap, forward, simply stunning. Best bet would be to go and have look in Currys see if they will set up the 360 and take some dvds or blurays try sd tv sky and sport fast moving like football compare that to the Sonys, Samsungs and Panasonic models. im sure you wont be dissapointed. Hope this is better information and good luck in your choice. 

I must admit the Panasonic plasmas get best buys on the which website but get slagged for having a green tint, over processed poor picture and power hungry. The sony is not tested on there but does seem highly rated, we have one where i am working and it does look a nice TV.

I am also just about to buy a sony kdl 40w4000. After much thought i read so many reviews saying how good it was. I have found a site selling it for 799 with free hdmi and monsters inc dvd. Its called cheapelectricals.

Ok, I might regret it but I have decided on the Samsung 6 series, I think the look of the rose front ect. give me the ok from the wife so thanks guys for all your help
