Re: Good live albums?

noooo Lets get one thing straight, the Floyd's live concerts are incredible spectacles. BUT.... when listening live music it should offer something other than just a note for note recreation of the recorded material (imho of course!). That's what rock should be all about, personally i'd love to hear Comfortably Numb clocking in at 20 minutes plus. Unless you go back to Ummagumma/live at pompeii your frankly not going to hear them jamming as they could/should. Still it's not a bad album

couldn't agree more with comments re NY (arc)Weld it's awesome but then frankly he's generally brilliant live;- live rust rust never sleeps _ recorded live with audience track removed live at massey hall filmore east even year of the horse has some terrific moments the ultimate 'almost' live album ever must be Tonight's the Night's .... music really doesn't get more raw and passionate than that!

Anton90125:

There are a number of live albums which I think are classic:

  1. Thin Lizzy:Live and Dangerous
  2. Deep Purple:Made in Japan
  3. UFO: Strangers in the Night
  4. Blue Oyster Cult: On your feet or on your Knees
  5. Led Zeppelin:The Song Remains The Same
  6. Rush:All the Worlds a Stage
  7. Genesis:Seconds Out
Not necessarily in that order.

Oh yes, what he said!

To which I'd add Motorhead's "No Sleep Til Hammersmith". A classic at 100mph!
