Re: The greatest rock/pop band?

El Hefe:

Drums:  Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters - prefer him on drums rather than guitar)

Bass: Matt Freeman (Rancid)

Guitars: Max Cavalera (Soulfly/ ex-Sepultura) and Kirk Hammet (Metallica)

Vocals: Greg Graffin (Bad Religion)

Bad Religion WHOOOHOOO!!!

I'm not sure he could growl enough for that band, but i really like BR anyway.

ill attempt my lineup when ive slept, but itd be very dependant on the kind of music i have in mind at the time. if i take REM as my inspiratyion, the lineup would be very different to if i was thinking along Bad Religion lines...or elliott smith, or buckley...

really must go to bed.

'night all.

Greg Graffin might not be able to growl but Max can help him out. Greg does write beuatiful and poetic lyrics though.

True. And has a good ear for hooks and melody - something missing from the "harder/heavier" end of the spectrum. Someone should tell them that brutality and melody and hooks are not mutually exclusive.

I'd put Mike Patton in a band similar to th eone you proposed, but then FNM already covered a lot of ground!

Anyway, how about (Edit - Richard Melville's post just reminded me i like the 3 guitarists thing, so i added a third):

Bill Rieflin (R.E.M.) - Drums
Duff Mckagan - Bass
Richard Fortus (Guns N' Roses) - Guitar
Brain Baker (Bad Religion) - Guitar
Peter Buck - Guitar
Chris Cornell - Vocals
