Just listened to something that for me is an absolute blast from the past,
Found this album in storage, memories just flooded back,
(Mutant Disco (A subtle Discolation of the norm))
I had to play this, Track 2, side 2, “Bustin Out” by Material.
This really brings back memories, and I’ll just try to recap!
I remember recording this track on to TDK MAXG tape, I Went out to the car, shoved the tape in and wacked the volume up. The car was a Ford Escort XR3I , it had a top end Pioneer cassette player (cant’ remember the model, it had a flashy display which was actually the front panel ,you pressed a button and the whole front slowly flipped open and offered access to the cassette slot). I also remember having something fitted which professed to be some sort of surround sound of its day called Troy Ambisonic. It worked well, I didn’t really care because I was ready to go, I even had a Robbie Vincent “If it moves, Funk it “sticker in the back window.
Anyway, this track had a Bass line that blew me away, kind of like heavy rock meets Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers from Chic.
I still love this track, A Bass line to die for.
Tes.
