Re: What are you listening to?

A bit of a mixture this week; Ultravox "Vienna" album, Natalie Merchant's Trilogy set, Johnny Cash and the Def American albums, Ian Dury & The Blockheads "Laughter" album (an underrated classic with a contender for wackiest title out there in "Take Your Elbow Out The Soup, You're Sitting On The Chicken"), Genesis as ever, ELO's "Out of the Blue", a Bessie Smith collection and a few Springsteen tracks off the "Magic" album.

The rest of the time it's been Radio 4, BBC Listen Again (fighting Talk) and the odd bit of Radio London.
Not to pre-empt TM's response, but from my PoV he's an acquired taste - not immediate, but quite seductive eventually. Simply Vinyl used to do a 180g pressing of 'Grace' if you can find it (and if you have a t/t, obviously). Youtube has some stuff if you want to check him out for free first.
I found that it was a bit whiney really, but seems to be really popular. I'd take a guess that the original of hallelujah is better than Jeff's cover though.

currently listening to Smog - Dongs of Sevotion. Perfect midnight music. It was preceded by Bpnney Prince Billy - The Letting Go

What's Vampire Weekend like btw?

Re: What are you listening to?

The Vampire Weekend cd is a good debut album, it's extremely catchy with some great musicianship. Not normally my cup of tea (I tend to like more aggressive music) but once this gets into your head you'll be humming the toons all day long. There's an African feel to the songs and the keyboard playing sounds almost classical at times but the sum of the parts make it really enjoyable. Check it out FE.
Fast Eddie (and any other Metallica lovers), if you listen to LPs, you may be interested in this http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=600703
I have just heard these and they are NOT good, no bass whatsoever, a really bad mastering job, thin sounding. Comparing to my older copies confirms this. I take back my recommendation unreservedly. AVOID THE NEW METALLICA HALF-SPEED MASTERS ON LP.
AVOID THE NEW METALLICA HALF-SPEED MASTERS ON LP.
Because it means those interminable songs go on twice as long.

Is it possible for something interminable to go on twice as long? Mathematically speaking, i mean.

But instead it just kept on raining

Try posting a thread entitled "Which mains cable for my PS3?" and I think you'll find it's entirely possible.
