Now, if only the iPod touch could wirelessly send music to it, that WOULD be fantastic.
this was the first thing i asked in teh glasgow apple store when i went to look at them. seems stupid that apple put wireless in the touch and not bother making it talk to the AE. apparently its open source though so third parties can develop it if they want.

You can go one better if you want.

I have just installed an Apple Time Capsule which is effectively an Airport Extreme 11n wifi/cablemodem/repeater combined with a 500 Gb storage - great value if you need storage and a wifi hub. My Mac and Airport Express, plus 3 x notebooks, use this as their hub.

So far I have connected the Air Express to my stereo in the lounge room and used the analogue feed plugged into my amp - sounds great when straight from CD being played on the MAC or a lossless file.

Next step is to buy a DAC and use the digital feed from the Express as I have heard that is a big step up in sound. Biggest problem is working which one to buy.

Next step is to get another express and use it to drive a pair of active speakers in the kitchen/sunroom.

I plan to scan my CD's using EAC (Exact Copy) and then store as lossless files in iTunes on the Time Capsule.

Cheers

I have similar plans for the Time Capsule i've just bought.... Will be blogging about it in the near future.

My other half has justified it to himself (and me) as a business expense, as he needed extra storage. I was instantly convinced!

Won't work, unless you a) run EAC under a bootcamp windows install and b) get FLACs working under iTunes - am sticking with Apple lossless with error correction, which is about the best a Mac can get without serious faffing. You could use an audio client other than iTunes, but then you'll need airfoil to get it to talk to airport express. Can't be bothered........

You know of course that if you use it for a percentage personal use, that percentage is not claimable? That applies to the VAT as well......course, you can claim listening to music is purely a business activity Big Smile

I think my business needs at least 2TB of mirrored storage with hot swappable disks.........Wink

No, nor I. Have struggled finding anything for Mac that uses AccurateRip - since that's the major plus point (something else has it but I forget it's name, begins with db). And since I can't be bothered loading Wwindows into my bootcamp partition, I've stuck with apple lossless with error correction on.

VMware Fusion offers a neater solution than Bootcamp as you can have both OSes running at the same time...

Got that when I got my mac, but still haven't loaded Windows anyway. Am actually trying to avoid it by using Mac compatible products when I can - I'd thought I would need to run Office under Windows since Mac Office 2008 has dropped VBA support, but Neo Office has sorted that for the time being - just need to find an MS Project compatible project management tool (not that I've dug very hard) - and if worst comes to worst I can use my Vista laptop for that.
