Re: sevenoaks and monitor audio

I agree Andrew and is the Platinum range of MA not high end or getting that way? More like they know that MA speakers have a price that doesn't budge much from the rrp and hence, they cannot mark up the prices. I reckon they could well be dealing with more unusual companies so that they can hike the prices a bit and there would be a lot of customers who would not know they were paying over the odds.

I don't think there's any evidence of such practices, Mr Snails.

And I went to sevenoaks in sheffield I don't see why anyone would make a purchase there as EVERYTHING I saw was RRP.

Sometimes, you have to speak to people. It's not like going to Sainsburys. If you demo something and you like it, you would be able to have a bit of a barter.

Well I did have a word about prices and on everything I mentioned the guy said "I can't get anywhere near that"

Though he was very well versed in the technical aspects of the his products.

But I must say I found him a little bit condescending.

Re: sevenoaks and monitor audio

I went to PJ Hifi once with  a plan to buy an exposure pre and mono's   he said can i help, i wasnt ready at that stage so said  "just browsing"

he said "this isnt a shop for browsing"

I left,  gobsmacked.

Cornflake guys are not "in crowd" or anally blocked, they just tend to work on quite unique and off the wall requirements, hence the lack of price matching, if you want price matching go to Richer. If you want something a bit different and a bit more high end go to Cornflake or Guildford Hifi etc.

Sevenoaks are pretty good as well. Cheap they aint however.
