Sweet Jesus! Why has anybody responded to this with their own list? Music is music, what the hell is 'Doom Metal', 'Intelligent Dance Music' (IDM), 'General Alternative' etc? And why should any sane person care? Although I do love a bit of Decaffeinated Anal-Rententive Hippy Grindcore Easy Listening Sludge Power Metal Nu-Wave Classical Dubcore myself.

Actual cd's (note alphabetical order as I work through my collection). This one is the more esoteric and less well known thread... May do a list of faves later?

Asa Chang and Junray - Tsu Gi Ne Pu - just odd

Battles - Mirrored - math rock

Laura Cantrell - When the roses bloom again - wonderful vocals

Death in Vegas - the Contino Sessions - Aisha moment (Iggy Pop)

Herman Dune - Giant - love or loathe it! My wife hates it

Low - Drums and Guns - mourneful, and wonderful

Aimee Mann - Lost in Space - a fan since watching "magnolia"

Mercury Rev - Desterter's songs - a classic

The Orb - Beyond the Ultraworld - for trips, not travel!

The Polyphonic Spree - The Beginning stages - barking fun

Roxy music - For your pleasure - po faced pleasure

DJ Shadow - Entroducing - for bass fans, and a stunning must have

Ulrich Schnauss - Far away trains passing by - to relax to

Talk Talk - anything they did!

QED Silver Anniversary XT front, QED Micro rear. Free Virgin Media HDMI's
Soon to be annoying folk with connection and set up questions...
Aimee Mann - Lost in Space - a fan since watching "magnolia"
Hoo CHA. A fan since hearing her sing on "Time Stand Still" by Rush, and then seeing her play 4th of July (I think) on BBC2's "Words and Music" years ago...........

Edit - and the source of an amusing (sic) story, coincidentally. I used to worked for BMG and we would get guest list entry to some of their artists' gigs, and I got on the list for her gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire about three years back.

So there's me being all cocky and going "I'm on the guest list, me" to all my friends and I'd got my wife a ticket so we could go together - I pitch up at the box office and do my "I'm on the guest list, me" routine and they say "Duncan....... Duncan....... nope - no Duncan here mate" and I'm like "no, check again - BMG! Duncan! I'm on there! No really I am!". In the end I had to go and buy a ticket from a tout outside............

My wife found this quite funny, inexplicably.

Pete Townshend once rang my house, back in my student-y writing days, and my less than musically-aware mad scientist mate answered it and not recognizing the name put the phone down and told me it was a nuisance caller.

Luckily, Mr. T rang back and I was there to take the call.
