I hate manufacturers model numbers - they're all clearly designed to deceive as far as I can tell. Why not just have the Pioneer 42P1 (first generation 42" plasma screen from Pioneer), the Panasonic 46L3 (46" third generation LCD screen from Panasonic) LG 32L7 (seventh generation 32" LCD from LG) etc. etc. It would make everyone's life so much easier!
This is exactly how it used to work and was a far more PUNTER FRIENDLY method. EG when I got My first Plasma the model was a Panasonic 42""PW5DB and that was it! Simple its a Panasonic, it's 42"" and its a series 5 screen.
Now its a potential mine field with the Consumer never quite sure exactly what TV they are getting with all these ever so slightly differing model numbers, and slightly differant looks to the set dependant upon where You get it from! IS the ne in Dixons the same as the one in Comet? and what about the one in Currys or John Lewis???? and which one did I read the review for? and does that review cover all these slightly diifferant model numbers???
