Re: AVI ADM 9.1

Basically yes, but in many cases it can be deliberate or unavoidable. For instance, an Airport Express doesn't sound as good from its Analogue Output as the best DACs, but it only costs £65 and is tiny. It has a an awful lot of technology packed into a tiny space (RF ends up on the analogue outs) and the digital output is, as shown by Stereophile Magazine (see their website), Bit perfect so it's as good as the best CD transport.

I expect you could buy Dem boards from DAC manufacturers if you asked, but they usually need some sort of power supply, nothing complicated though.

On a related note then, why would a CD player have, like, 10 DACs (cf Leema)?

USP? DAC's are pretty cheap so that would'nt make much of a dent in a 2.5k or whatever product but attract a lot of interest from technophobes. I dont know of course and I think Leema points out its a distortion cancelling arrangement (?), just a guess and I heard they sound good though.

Must be something - ten DACs doesn't do it for me, USP wise. I can understand two (dual mono), but there must be a technical reason for it........

Re: AVI ADM 9.1

I've been trying to find the Wolfson one and I reckon I must have lost it when we moved factory. I'd happily have given it to anyone who was interested. However if you buy one and email us at work, I'm sure Mart will suggest where to get a suitable power supply.

All the others offer them too so it doesn't have to be Wolfson, just pick one you fancy.

Hi Ashley, can you tell me which speaker stands would you recommend with the ADM 9.1's? Tell me if it is more suitable to get metal or high quality wooden stands.

Re: AVI ADM 9.1

Apollo do the ones on our website and I've got some here if you like the look of them. If not anything 24" or 60 cms you fancy will do. Just email at the office address if you want them. They've got holes in the back for all the cables

Because they all sound pretty much the same and it's the implementation that makes the difference?

Yes they do now, all are 24 bit parts and extremely good and not expensive.
