Sky's online viewer and download service has been upgraded and rebranded as Sky Player from today.
The revamped service now allows Sky users progressive downloading, allowing you to start watching programs while they're still downloading, and also brings live channels to your desktop, including Sky News and Sky Sports.
Other new features include a new look for the service, and extra tools to allow increased personalisation. And there's more content, too.
Since its launch in 2006, Sky Anytime for PC has offered a wide range of movies, sport, entertainment and documentaries. Sky Player now offers content from all Sky Channels, as well as others such as The History Channel and National Geographic.
In addition there's now a comprehensive on-demand movie service, with everything from Hollywood blockbusters to independent and art-house films.
Sky Player offers Sky customers access to free content online, in line with their core Sky TV subscription, plus some additional content available on a paid-for basis (either pay per view or buy to own). Significant elements of the service are also available to non Sky customers on a paid for basis.
Sky Anytime, which is available on Sky+ and Sky HD boxes, will retain its name, and the company's mobile service will be renamed soon.
