Heroes: coming soon on Blu-ray

Universal Studios, which previously backed the now-defunct HD DVD format, has unveiled its plans to release all new home video releases on Blu-ray day-and-date with its DVD releases.

The first title to get the Blu-ray treatment will be Doomsday, followed by a slew of films including The Incredible Hulk, Wanted, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Mamma Mia! and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

If that little lot doesn't light your fire, then further titles slated for release later this year include American Gangster, Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Miami Vice, End of Days and U-571.

And fans of top TV show Heroes will be able to buy Season One and Season Two on Blu-ray from August 26.

Apart from Heroes, Not much here to light my fire. Lets hope Paramount get their act together and release Star Trek as soon as possible.

From what I've read elsewhere, it looks like Paramount has gone a bit sulky and decided to carry on with Star Trek releases on DVD, and not even migrate the first series from HD DVD to BD.
