The installation's complete, the amps are warming up and we're about to dim the lights and begin our first demo here at the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show.

So what have we got in store? Well, it's a truly spectacular £68,000 home cinema system, designed to show you both the current state of the DVD art, and just how fabulous the high-definition sound and vision is on both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs.

To make the most of the system, we'll be showing some breathtaking clips from Transformers in all its high-definition glory.

Our system totals over £68,000: for vision, we're using SIM2's latest three-chip Full HD projector, the C3X 1080, complete with its optional ISCO anamorphic lens and a 130in Cinemascope screen from Screen Research (that's £25,000 for that little lot).

Then there's Arcam's finest processor, the AV9, plus ten (that's ten) Arcam P1 monobloc power amplifiers, giving us the small matter of 2350 watts of power. And to round things off, there's a top-quality speaker system from Dali, based on its floorstanding Helicon 800 speakers (£4000 a pair) and no less than three active subwoofers.

We've also got high-quality cabling from the Chord Company, racks from Atacama and video distribution from Gefen.

You'll also be able to take a closer look at this year's Award-winning TVs, from 26in Panasonic to 50in Pioneer – they'll be in action, fed with high-definition, in our HD Gallery – plus we'll all be on site to answer your questions throughout the show.

If you can't make it to the show, we'll be bringing you regular news updates on the website live from the show throughout the day and the rest of the weekend. So stay logged on!

The show's open 9am-6pm on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd November, and 9am-5pm on Sunday 4th. Visit the show website for full details.
