sky hd_boxFrom now until the end of September, Sky is offering discounts to existing customers wanting to upgrade to its HD service. While the box remains £299, customers can get it for as little as £199, depending on how long they've been signed up for Sky.

If you've been with Sky for up to three years, you get £20 off the box, making it £279; three to six years gets you a £50 discount, and those with Sky for over six years get the box for £199. In each case you also get reduced-price installation, at £30, and the chance to go multiroom with your current Sky box for £10 extra a month.

Wish they'd offer the discount to new customers too, as I'm dying to switch from Virgin Media to Sky HD!

This all seems so very nice, but I am sure that I have heard from a colleague lately that SKY are to introduce a new version of this HD unit. Any comment on this ??

Sky are well practiced rip off merchants.

I asked this very question two months ago and was told there was no chance of the prices coming down so I signed up for Sky + for the next 12 months.

If you have sky+ you can go onto ebay and get a brand new sky hd box for £200. When it arrives simply unplug your sky+ box and plug in your nice new hd box, turn it on and a short while it will have set itself up and all you have to do is upgrade your viewing package. You also save £60 on the instalation!

Andy,

New customers always get much better offers than this, look at the threads on AVForum, is you ar a new customer and want sky HD, you should be able to get it for < £199, and on some occasions even get twelve months half sub thrown in.

But Sky are still rip off merchants,
