Having developed the Alto speaker to go with the original Solo all-in-one system, Arcam is all set to launch a surround speaker package to match the new Solo Movie. The Muso speakers and Logo subwoofer are due in the shops in June, and it will be possible to buy the Musos as separate speakers for the greatest flexibility in system-building.

The Muso stands 23cm tall, and uses an aluminium dome tweeter and a polymer/aluminium mid/bass unit. The enclosure is made of 'Sound Dead Aluminium' and steel to make it as inert as possible, and is constructed using resin-damped metal-to-metal bonding so that no fixings are visible. It comes complete with a compliant rubber mounting mat.

The subwoofer uses a 25cm drive unit combined with a 200W Class D amplifier, and is a downward-firing design for maximum flexibility of placement.

Prices for the speakers are expected to be £140 each, or £280 a pair, with the subwoofer at around £500.
