We gave it a five-star rating at £5000, but now the SIM2 Grand Cinema HT305E has been reduced to £3500, making it even better value.

The projector uses the HD2+ Dark Chip 3 chipset from Texas Instruments, and HD ready with its 1280x720-pixel resolution handling signals of up to 720P and 1080i. Its contrast ratio is 3500:1, and a 1.8-2.4:1 throw ratio and vertical lens shift make it easy to accommodate in a wide variety of rooms.

Inputs range from HDMI to component, S-video and composite, and the projector comes complete with a backlit remote control.
