Sennheiser HD 380 Pro
Although ostensibly designed for the audio professional, Sennheiser's HD 380 Pro headphones offer a lot that should interest the avid hi-fi listener, too.
Firstly there's a foldable design that combines with a natty carry case to make them fairly portable.
Then there's the firm, closed-back design, which prevents sound leakage and provides a degree of noise isolation.
Finally there's the sound, which is brilliantly punchy and powerful, particularly in the bass.
Overall detail and balance is excellent, and the delivery is very spacious and dynamic.
Sure, the cheaper Grado SR60i is a more dramatically revealing headphone, but by closed-back standards, these are the best we've heard in ages.
