Andy,

Whilst I follow what you say, it does mean that until these older players are looked at again, the ratings (which people often use as more than just a guide) could be misinterpreted.  On the other hand, if you change the ratings, will those manufacturers be wrong to quote the original five stars?  I guess you can't win!

The other players you mention were all reviewed some time ago, and although they received 5 stars at the time, the market has moved on.

The CD6SE is so good it has re-written the rules in this sector and set the bar even higher.

If/when we get around to doing another Group Test of CD players in that bracket, it's likely a number of the older models would see their star ratings fall.

I'm surprised, and a litle confused, that the Kandy K2 CD player has only been given four stars.  According to the review, "it's the second best player on the market at this price point" (the best being the Cyrus CD6SE).  If it is the second best, then why is it that the Arcam CD192, the Cyrus CD6s, the Exposure 2010sCD, the Naim CD5i, the Rega Apollo, and remarkably, the Roksan Kandy Mk3 all get the full five stars in this price band?

Perhaps someone at WHFS&V could enlighten me?
