5/5
We've been living with the 42" V10 for nearly a month now, and picked-it-up at a bargain price with the free 5-year warranty.
Must say I couldn't be happier. THX mode is superb (so natural) and if you want things subtly different you can get the picture as close to the THX reference as possible and then slightly 'tweak' for overscan, frame-creation, or increased brightness (handy for gaming).
The Viera Cast internet access is a fun gadget and quite useful. The single sheet of glass is great for keeping the screen clean. BluRay payback is stunning on either THX or a 'calibrated' cinema mode (done by swapping between THX and Cinema).

I agree, I went to seven-oaks, guy had same TV, put a blu-ray on, it sort of looked like good quality SD, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Go for the G series, cheaper, and just as good I think!

I must say I'm also dissapointed at the results of this review. I was hoping for that 5 stars to completely back my intensions to buy this set. I have recently upgraded my whole home cinema (speakers and receiver) and the final piece was to be this plasma tv. I had mainly based this on the fact that Kuro technology was included as well as Pana's array of new gizmos. What is best to go for now based on plasma (now that I have finally decided to stick to plasma over LCD) around 42 inch that is not over ???1600?

In what way did you feel the Blu-Ray picture was lacking in detail?

checked this Tv out today in great detail. Totally agree with this review. Its a beautiful TV but lacks that wow factor in the blue ray department to give it that additional star. Loved the fact that the THX setting makes life so easy. when it drops to ???1200 it will be fantastic

The 'Z' is indeed the top of the shop, and our 46" example arrives next week. Expect to see the First Test in the August issue (o/s July 1st).

This is'nt the flagship model.....Pana's "Z" series is the big boy out soon with wireless connections as the set is so slim it aint got any on the set!!

Iv got to agree with the other comments, I'v seen this panel and its much better than last yrs on all fronts, THX Mode is made for blu-ray and its amazing.

This is supposed to be the flagship Panasonic model. I'm sure a lot of people will be disappointed that it doesn't give the best results to blu-ray pictures.

We certainly did, and it's the THX mode that we found suited Blu-ray pictures (though not Freesat images) best. It didn't make them as detailed as they could have been, though.

Did you check HD picture on THX mode? I am strongly suprised with 4 stars only to be honest. As I know there is Kuro only that can win with this Panas plasma.

The Samsung UE40B7000 is virtually identical in spec to the UE40B7020 we've previously tested, but it's exclusive to Dixons, Currys and PC World
It's far from cheap, but if you want a great-looking object that's also a great-looking screen, this Philips set is for you
