With no fewer than eight new ranges of Viera TVs in 2009, Panasonic seems to have a screen for all occasions. The TX-L37S10 is taken from the company's S10 Series of budget, Full HD LCDs.
All 2009 Vieras feature the IPS Alpha panel that is claimed to produce a more consistent image, even at wide viewing angles. And this is one area where the 'L37S10 really excels.
Images are solid and don't appear bleached when watching from a tight angle.
Lovely, stable images
Connectivity includes three HDMI inputs and an SD memory card slot.
Panasonic includes an Eco Mode that results in a darker overall picture, so make sure you alter the contrast and brightness settings accordingly, should you choose to use it.
Freeview performance is exemplary; image stability is great by LCD standards. Resolution and clarity are excellent and there's only minimal interference from on-screen noise.
Feed through a 1080p/24fps Blu-ray signal and the TV does the content on the disc justice. During X-Men 3, the superheroes' outfits look detailed and convincing.
A fine all-rounder
Every edge is sharp and movement is handled smoothly. Upscaling a standard def DVD, the 'L37S10 keeps that crispness largely intact.
The TV sounds a little thin and weedy, not unexpectedly – there are only a handful of flatscreen TVs across all screen sizes that can claim to be up to scratch in the sound department.
At this size and price, the 'L37S10 is a fine all-rounder and a great option for prospective entry-level buyers.
