Does anyone know if I'll be able to connect this up to my existing 5.1 analogue cinema system?

The spec states there's "8 channel" analogue connectivity - will this work okay with a 5.1 system?

Thanks

Is it a big or small improvement on the bd50, as i bought mine 3 months ago?

Can this player play American Bluray films as well as region 1 dvd's or will it have to be "hacked"?

If it has to be hacked is a code available?

Oops, sorry, will amend immediately. Yes, of course it does play DVD-Video (and very well too).

Hi your tech specs says NO to DVD-Video? I have an old receiver denon 3803 and a full KEF floorstander package including the surrounds. I want to enjoy multichannel new audio formats. Can you suggest me a player which will go with my system

You'll find out exactly which players we rate highest in our Awards issue, out October 16th. That will include Awards at each price point we feel represents a true step up in quality for the money.

Cool, so the Denon rules the roost still. It would be great if you were able to take the leaders at their price points and describe what changes as you spend more money. There are times (I'm imagining here) when a product is simply priced far too fairly and in fact beats everything above it's price point because it's simply the finest example of it's type of kit. Does that always have to mean it's the most expensive?

Five stars means it's the top scorer at it's price point. Sometimes I wonder if there couldn't be a subjective score as well, showing the overall kit pecking order? Feel I may have asked for this before. The response went along the lines of: it's value for money we're rating, not the kit itself on performance terms alone.

Thanks for the response Clare. Would love to know how these players do actually stack up against each other.

No to SACD.

And no, Will, the Pana doesn't beat the Denon - as you'd expect considering the pricing and our respective star ratings (five for each).

So is at actually better than the Denon 2500 Transport. Forget about price points. Flat out, is it better? (At the things they both do).

Does this unit offer SACD multichannel playback via HDMI? If not, can you point me in the direction of one that does?
