I have been using one of these units for just under a year now. Yes it is big and yes it is very heavy. but the sound is just superb. It does everything I want it to do and it does it with grace and accuracy.
I use 'pure stereo' from analogue sources, full surround sound from fibre optic Cable TV (V+) and Panasonic DVD/FreeView and a DVD Player (cheap SONY) using COAX cable feed. They all work like a dream.
On top of all of this it also has a pretty good FM tuner and I have added a SONY DAB tuner and Cambridge CD player (both fed via analogue) to the mix. I just wonder if there are plans to develop a DAB tuner from the FM unit sometime in the future?
I would like to see some of these companies recruit some better manual writers - one really requires a clear step by step set up manual written in clear English (or whatever language is appropriate for the point of sale) and with clear illustrations. Had I had a better manual I would have been into the sound I wanted in less than the two full weeks it took me to really find out what this wonderful unit could produce.
Power and panache, rest assured the SR8002 is as well equipped as most people will ever need
A well-made, comprehensively specified receiver
