E3 2009: Xbox Live to get Last.fm, Twitter and Facebook

Xbox 360
Facebook and Twitter coming to Xbox Live

Microsoft is to integrate social networking sites Twitter, Facebook and Last.fm into the Xbox Live network.

Making the announcement at the E3 show in LA, Microsoft said the three additions will "take Xbox Live to the next level of entertainment". The updates willl be available this autumn.

You'll be able to stream music, catch up on you Tweets and stay up to date with your friends on Facebook.

Also unveiled at E3 was the new 3D motion controller/camera for the Xbox 360, called Project Natal. The 3D camera tracks your body movements, so you can throw a punch or kick a ball, without having anything in your hand.

It will also incorporate face detection and voice recognition, and as well as controlling games, will allow users to flick through films and TV shows on Xbox Live.

These latest developments come hot on the heels of last week's news that Sky TV is linking up with Xbox Live this autumn to bring Sky TV and films to the Xbox.
